Traveling Through Time

with Art!

2nd grade students will be traveling through time to explore art from ancient civilizations to the present.As students learn about ancient and modern cultures they will explore a variety of art materials and processes such as drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media techniques. Students will record their experience in a "time travel" journal. Throughout the course of the year students will also create works of art inspired by subjects taught in their homeroom.

Artwork will be compiled in student portfolios to give students the opportunity to discuss their thoughts, ideas, what they learned, and what they would like to learn more about with the teacher. Students will take their portfolios home in January and again in June after the district-wide art show.
