3rd Grade
Traveling Around the World
Through Art
3rd grade students will be exploring the art of many different countries from around the world. Students will learn about the art and artists of the countries as well as their history and traditions. Students will use a variety of artistic mediums and techniques, such as drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media. Students will document their travels in their "passport" notebooks. Throughout the course of the year students will also create works of art inspired by subjects taught in their homeroom.
Artwork will be compiled in student portfolios to give students the opportunity to discuss their thoughts, ideas, what they learned, and what they would like to learn more about with the teacher. Students will take their portfolios home in January and again in June after the district-wide art show.
