Some of the law requirements include updating and/or establishing anti-harassment and discrimination policies and regulations, creating school training programs and incorporating or embedding civility, citizenship and character education into the curriculum for every grade level.
Queensbury schools already meet the DASA standards in many respects. From in-school sessions led by counselors to after school clubs, students at all grade levels are exposed to the ideas of tolerance, compassion and respect. Most recently, Queensbury High School launched a safety messaging system that allows students to anonymously report instances of bullying via text message. The assistant principal in each school building has been designated as a Dignity Coordinator in compliance with DASA who is responsible for training staff and students about the Dignity for All Students Act, as well as responding to bullying concerns from students and staff.
