Parents as Reading Partners Program

Here at QES, we have always felt the need to connect home and school. One program in which an attempt is made to do just that, is
through our PARP (Parents as Reading Partners) program. Students in grades Kindergarten through three are encouraged to participate
with their families in a daily reading regimen. Although students participate in PARP throughout the school year, a stronger emphasis
on reading is placed on reading throughout the month of March. At this time, the students attend a kick-off assembly to get them
pumped up for a month of reading at home with their families. Students are rewarded for progress that is made on an individual basis.
The principals also challenge the students to meet their reading goals. Each year, a new theme is chosen to motivate the students to
become involved in this program.

The 2008 theme we have chosen:

                                         " Shoot for Your Dreams…Read A Book!"

The elementary school hosted two fantastic performances to
kick-off our annual Parents As Reading Partners reading program.

Mr. Twisty, a comedian and magician, visited our school and
entertained the students while promoting the importance of reading
and having goals and dreams. The hit of the show was his trained
dog named “Izzy.” The two assemblies were a huge success!
