COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Global History & Geography I (Global 9R) -
This course is a comprehensive study of global history from pre-history to the present. The course will be taught with a regional approach and will include such themes as diversity, interdependence, cultural diffusion, geography, and economic and political systems. Regions of focus include: the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Students will develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Eastern heritages and the impact on their lives. Major emphasis is placed on concepts, key trends, attitudes, and skills. Students take a mid-term and final examination and earn credit toward a Regents diploma.
Global History & Geography II (Global 10R) -
This course is a comprehensive study of global history from the classical civilizations of Greece and Rome to the present day. The primary regions of focus in this course include: Western Europe and Eastern Europe. Students will study the contributions of Greece and Rome, the rise of nation states, global trends of the 19th century, and explore developments of the 20th century. Students will develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Western heritages and the impact on their lives, while improving learning skills. Students take the New York State Regents Exam in Global History & Geography at the end of this course.
