Outdoor Club
ADK Hikes
Althought the ADK hikes are not technically a part of the Outdoor Club, some of the Outdoor Club
members do participate. Each fall a group from the Queensbury Middle School heads to the Adirondack
High Peaks. This group consists of students, faculty and administration. It has been over twenty years
since the first group established this tradition. Over this period, Algonqin, Giant, Phelps, Wright,
Cascade, Porter and many other peaks have been climbed.
Fall 2004 (October 8th) -- Power point from base to the summit of Algonquin.
Three groups participated. One group ascended Phelps, one Wright and the third Algonqin. As far as
weather was concerned, it was an incredible day. Some Of the highly motivated hikers such as
Mr. Silvernell and Mr. Orr climbed two peaks (Wright and Algonquin)
