"Empower all students to be lifelong learners,
inspired to pursue their dreams
and contribute to the global community."

To QMS Students,

Another school year has begun. How quickly a summer full of t-shirts, swimming and relaxing can turn into an autumn of sweatshirts, backpacks and routine.

A new year will provide its share of new challenges, but it will certainly also create new opportunities. These opportunities will come in a variety of ways. Be prepared to take advantage by becoming involved in the many things that QMS has to offer. No matter what you aspire to be or do - a pro athlete, a performer on Broadway or President of the United States - it can all begin right here.

It is also important to know that the choices you make while in middle school will have an effect on the opportunities you will have in the future. Take time to think and make the right choices. Here are some examples of good choices:

  • choose to attend class everyday
  • choose to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals
  • choose to get active in your school and community
  • choose to be positive, caring and helpful
  • choose to be organized and on time
  • choose to be respectful to everyone you come in contact with
Remember that the middle school is full of good days and some tougher ones. However, no matter what type of day you are having, there are many people here who can help you. Let us help you when you are sad or upset and let us help you celebrate when things are going well. Your teachers, school counselors, administrators and guide room guides are all here to help you on your journey through middle school. Most of all, don’t forget your parents. They are the people who know you the best and they are your most valuable resource.

I would like to give you some final reminders. If you ride your bike to school, don’t forget to wear your helmet and lock your bike up at one of the bike racks. You need to keep your locker combination, computer password and lunch PIN number private. An adult can help you if you forget any one of these.

Finally, have a great year. You are the one who is in control of your experiences, so make the most of them - no excuses! I look forward to seeing and talking with each one of you throughout the year.

Sincerely,

Mr. Keys
Principal
