Classroom News!

The classroom News section is designed to offer its viewers a glimpse into the current events of room 109, and check out some funny pictures and happenings too!

Just a note...After having a parent concerned with their child's image being broadcasted on the web, I will no longer post links to our class videos on YouTube.  All apologies to anyone this effected.

Up, Up and Away...

On Spetember 19, 2008 we headed outside QES and got to see a real hot air balloon get filled up.  It got a little scary when the wind began to blow the balloon over and my kids had to run away from it as if they were in a Indiana Jones movie!  :)

It was a blast!

AND................... They're off!

The school year is beginning and I'm very excited!  Check here from time to time to see some funny photos, or interesting things that might have occurred in room 109.  I cannot wait to meet all of you and get this great year started!

We have an owl expert in our room!

One of our finest, brightest and sweetest classmates, Sarah O'Connor, took it upon herself to follow her dreams and research a topic that is near and dear to her heart.  Sarah, on her own time, researched, wrote up a report and even created a fantastic bulletin board about her favorite nocturnal animal.  We are all so proud of her and we wanted to give you a glimpse of her hard work.  Congratulations, Sarah!  We love it!

Happy St. Patrick's Day... (soon)

We are going strong here in room 109 and wanted to wish all of you a happy Spring.  The Fun Fair is March 29th and I hope to see you all there.

Happy Holidays from my little angel to yours.

Have a safe and happy break. See you next year ;)

Final Thoughts:

Well, sadly another year has come to a close.  There's not much more that I can say other than THANK YOU for everything!  Thank you for a great year; thank you for being such wonderful students; thank you for being such great, giving parents and allowing me to share my days with your children- I hope they are better off for it.  If there is ever anything I can do for you or your kids, please know you have a friend in me.  Your kids became like family to me, and each and every one of them touched my life.  I wish all of you well.  Have a great summer!  -Joe Traina

Here's some wonderful Magic Forest Pics to take with you! Thank you chaperones and thank you Mrs. Aspland for the great shots!

Okay, okay, I had to sneak a few of my little angel in there too.  I couldn't help it.  ;)

Field Day was a Blast!  Enjoy these pictures to make the memory last longer!

Dancing Queen!

We have a dancing star in the making here in room 109.  Below are some great pictures of our friend Paris, her friend Emily as well as their little brothers Jake and Andrew.

Play Ball!!!

Here's some shots of our buddy Cole in baseball action...and one of Cole, Raiden and myself from the art show.  :)

Here's some quick pics of my troops getting ready for a long season of baseball.  (The third picture just cracks me up!)

Chinese Acrobats!!!

We were lucky enough to get a visit from the great Chinese Acrobats and it was amazing!  Here's some pictures of the event.

A quick flash from the past...

This year, I am lucky enough to have a second member of the wonderful Gordon family.  Austin Gordon is a great guy, a hard worker and funny person.  Austin has many talents including great hockey and wrestling skills.  It has just come to my attention that Austin is not alone when it comes to athletic achievments in his family.  Austin's older sister, Alexis, who I was lucky enough to have in my class 2 years ago, is also a super-star in her own right.  Recenlty, Alexis competed in a gymnastics' tournament and won best in the state!  She's my first ever State Champion Student and I couldn't be more proud.  I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate Alexis and her wonderful family for a job well done.  Great work, Alexis and Gordon family!  Your dedication and hard work have paid off.  Now let's take on Regionals!!!

Another blast from the past!

One of my former students from last year had to move away to Europe so her dad could play professional hockey overseas.  Sylvain Cloutier was a star forward on the local and beloved Frostbite before the team was disolved.  Emily, his daughter, was one of my best and sweetest students and I couldn't be happier for the Cloutier family to announce that her dad's team won the Elite League Championship this year!  Congratulations to the Coventry Blaze, Sylvain Cloutier and his family, who I know he couldn't have done it without.

Here are some pics of the celebration!

Clifford!!!

We had a wonderful field trip to the Glens Falls Civic Center and saw our pal Clifford!  Thank you to Mrs. Carpenter for getting the ball rolling on this one and thanks to the chaperones who helped.  Another thanks goes out to Mrs. Boccio, who supplied the great pictures.  We had a great time!

??????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

Well, we asked for snow and we sure got it!  The snow before the February Break posponed our Winter Fun Day and now the weather is threatening to do it again for the makeup date.  Well, I hope you all enjoyed your time off and are looking forward to Spring.  Speaking of Spring, we've got our Clifford field trip coming up (thanks to Mrs. Carpenter for getting the ball rolling with that one) and we've got our World Famous Fun Fair coming up on March 31st.  I'm usually working the hot dog line (go figure, me with food), so I hope to bump into my students and their families at the hot dog line!

???????????????????????????????

I hope everyone had a wonderful and healthy holiday season.  We are full steam ahead here in January and working hard to blast through the winter and get to Spring Training for Baseball!  :)  Just kidding.  I guess it would be nice to have a little winter though, right?

Don't forget, no school for the kids on January 15 and January 29.  These days are Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Superintendent's Day.

Happy Holidays to all!!!

I hope you all all had a great and healthy holiday.  Now the countdown is on until Christmas!  December 5th is Grandparents' Breakfast and December 4th I have more training.  December 11th I will be out, due to my every-other-month Manhattan doctor visit for my sinuses.  We are trying to avoid a third surgery in a year.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Please have a safe and happy holiday.

Thanks to all of the parents who helped out with our first field trip!  It was a great time!  :)

Ooh, Up Yonda pictures!

We had a June wedding here in room 109!  Lauren DeLor and Ericka Wadleigh are the proud parents of the two newlyweds.  Lauren and Ericka were proud to announce the marriage of Mr. Fuzzy (Ericka's stuffed animal) and Ms. Fuzzy, now Mrs. Fuzzy (Lauren's stuffed animal).  They were wed on June 16th and make quite the couple.  Here's some of the pics from the joyous event.

Scroll down to see some more tidbits, previous happenings, andsome more fun!

Take a quick glimpse of some of the great things that happened in our class last year.  I just love special guests!  We were visited by two of the Adirondack IceHawks up and coming superstars!  There names are Jason Jaworski #22 and Brian Haaland #31.  Too bad for both of them because neither one of them are part of the team anymore, as Jason was just traded and Brian didn't make the team when they switched to the Frostbite.  Anyway, it was so great for them to take time out of their busy schedule to read and share stories with our class.  Thanks to Brian and Jason & a special thanks to Mrs. Goudy for setting up this great experience!
