**Just a Note: Our next meeting will be October 15th at 7:00 pm in the Media Center (Library) in the Middle School. We try for the meeting to be just 1 hour or less. Please come.

Parents and Teachers! Join the PTSO today! Membership is only $5 and supports established educational and social programs for the 914 students attending QMS including:trout in the classroom, educational field trips, drama and dance clubs, poetry cafe, lunch bunch and the 6th grade fall event. As a member, you can choose to volunteer for PTSO supported activities, attend PTSO meetings, serve on committees or simply be a member "at large" by contributing your $5 membership fee. UPCOMING EVENTS:

2008 Membership Goal. It is the goal of the PTSO to have every family in QMS represented by Nov 1. That can only happen if parents and teachers join. If you haven't joined yet, please do so today. The PTSO helps fill in the gaps where our school district budget sometimes falls short. We fund enrichment programs, after school clubs and related curriculum activities that can help further spark a student's interests. Become a member today!

The 6th Grade Fall Event will be Friday, October 24th from 7-9 p.m. This event is for 6th graders only. No friends, siblings or costumes please.

EXTRA, EXTRA come on and buy it.......Spirit Gear that is. We will be having 4 days that spirit gear can be purchased in the lobby of the middle school from 5:00 - 7:00pm.

NEWS AND NOTES:

• The PTSO is supporting several new programs this year including: Lake George Watershed Stream Study, team field trips, Life Skills Class for special education students, show band, and the 6th grade foreign language program.
  
  
• Did you know? The PTSO donated a baby grand piano to the music department last year? That grand musical instrument will benefit your children and students of QMS for years to come. The piano would not have been possible without the support of parent membership.
  
  
• Get to Know the PTSO. We have 15 committees that support educational and social programs for your children at QMS. We have eight fundraisers scheduled this year to augment programs including: culture club, 8th grade moving up ceremony, ELA programs Sister Cities activities, talent show, the QMS staff appreciation luncheon
  
  
• The PTSO would like to thank everyone who purchased Spirit Gear during the open houses on September 16th & 17th. If you were unable to get to the crowed tables and still want to purchase some of the great items being offered, all you need to do is fill out an order form and send it in with your child to their guide room teacher. You don't have a spirit gear form you say......They can be found in the main office or the PTSO web page.
  
  
• A Big Shout Out to all who have already joined the Parent, Teacher, Student, Organization = PTSO. We could not do what we do without your support. Thank you.

Don't forget. Your PTSO membership is like a "grande latte" -- only $5, but so good! If you buy coffee every morning from a convenience store, you probably spend about $10 per week on your first cup.
