The Zonta Club of Glens Falls is offering an award to a graduating senior who demonstrates academic success, school, and community involvement, as well as financial need. The deadline date is March 22 and applications are available in the guidance office.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute announces its summer PREFACE program for talented, underrepresented minorities. PREFACE is a two-week residential summer experience for talented high school sophomores and juniors who will enter 11th or 12th grade in fall 2010, and have expressed a strong, early interest in pursuing a career in the engineering and technological professions. It is for high school students from groups that have been historically and traditionally underrepresented or underserved in science, engineering, and technological fields.
To qualify, applicantscomplete an applicationand must be entering the 11th or
12th grade inSeptember, 2010.
The deadline is March 19, 2010.

The Double H Ranch is offering employment opportunities to 17 and 18 year olds in their leadership building programs. 17 year olds are "Counselors-In-Training" and attend a three-week session in risk management, child development, communication skill building, teambuilding, and conflict resolution. CITs also participate in the program areas such as aquatics, high ropes course, and the horse barn as well as joining a cabin and serving as a group counselor. 18 year olds participate in the "Leaders-In-Training" program where they join the full staff orientation at the beginning of the season and remain until the end. United States Military Academy Summer Leaders Seminar 2010
The Summer Leaders Seminar offers a concentrated week of academic, athletic, military, and social experiences at West Point. Students will enjoy the academy's academic offerings and see West Point's leadership program in action through the cadets who help coordinate the seminar activities. This year's weeks are: May 29-June 4 or June 5-11, 2010.Students must apply on line at: www.Admissions.WestPoint.edu by April 1, 2010.

The Queensbury Department of Parks and Recreation will be offering a NYS Pre-Licensing Course
to students ages 16 and up who possess a valid NYS Learner's Permit. Call 761-8216 to enroll. Sessions are: March 26, April 30, and May 21. A fee of $40 is required.

Silverman Law
College Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Any 7th-12th grade student from a Greater Capital Region area school (Albany, Schenectady,
Troy, Glens Falls, Amsterdam) with a minimum of a GPA of a “B” or 85+ who successfully submits the
required items for consideration.
Required Items: Eligible students must submit an application, a typed essay (300 - 500 words), and a
copy of most current official school grade report. Any student that does not submit all completed
required items will not be considered for awards. All required items must be submitted to the Program
Administrator at the address indicated below by the following dates:
Deadlines: May Award deadline is March 30th
Notification of Winners: Scholarship award winners will be notified in writing no later than the end of
the award month (May & November). Awards will be presented in person by Silverman Law.
Promotion of scholarship and recipients will be ongoing and applicants approve the publication of their
name and award(s) upon application. Parent/Guardian approval must be submitted with application.
Applications are in the High School Guidance Office.
