QMS Launches Career Cafe
Cumberland Farms is celebrating the grand re-opening for its exit 18 store at the corner of Main Street and Ryan Street in Queensbury by partnering with the Queensbury Middle School to launch Career Café – a new career exploration initiative for students in grades 6–8.

From May 8 through June 4, Cumberland Farms is donating 20¢ for every hot/iced coffee, tea or chill zone beverage sold at the exit 18 store to the middle school to support activities promoting career exploration.  The organization has committed to a minimum donation of $1,000, with the potential for more depending upon sales.

Career Café is an opportunity for community members to share information about their careers with students during lunch. Today, Denise Buher, physical therapist and owner of Queensbury Orthopedic & Spine, and Deanna Brayton (QHS ’05), physical therapy assistant, talked about what a typical day is like for a physical therapist, what the education and training requirements are, and the skills and traits an employer looks for in a prospective employee. The Career Café will feature a new field each month.

Other career exploration programs at the middle school include MASH Camp, eighth-grade field trip to the Career & Technical Education Center and UAlbany Day.
