Band Earns Gold
The WHBI Fifth Grade Band earned a Level 1 Gold Medal rating this past Wednesday, May 1, at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Major organization Festival at Shaker High School in Latham. This top honor was decided by NYSSMA judges scoring the students’ performance against a standardized New York State rubric. They were evaluated on tone, technique, accuracy of performance, and artistry.

Fifth-grade Student wins Poster Contest
Congratulations to Saige C. in Mr. Snowball's fifth-grade classroom - her poster was chosen as the winning poster for the WHBI in the Warren County Health Services "Tar Wars" 2013 Tobacco Free Poster Contest. Her poster theme is "Stay Strong, Live Long, Stay Tobacco Free."

As part of the prize package, Saige won a gift card courtesy of Stewarts' Shops and her poster will be featured in a tobacco free calendar that will be distributed to all fourth- and fifth-grade students in Warren County. Saige will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Warren County Municipal Center in June.

Discount Card Fund Raiser
The WHBI PTA discount card fundraiser is underway until May 31! Cards are $10 each and offer discounts to local businesses. How about $1 off an admission to the Fun Spot, or 10% off every purchase at Martha's and Aeropostale for a year? Angelina's Pizzeria, the Recovery Grill and Pizza Jerks will give you 15% off your purchases. There are even more great discounts available!

Download a copy of the card to view all available discounts. Call 824-2600 to buy a card or get more information.
