SCHOOL NEWS:

FEATURED READER OF THE WEEK

Ryan S., a 5th grade student in Ms. Enny's class, is the featured "Reader of the Week." The following is from his summary about the book Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan.

"Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school…again. And that’s the least of his troubles. Lately mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy’s Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he’s angered a few of them. Zeus’s master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus’s stolen property and bring piece to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves."

FOOD DRIVE FOR WAITE HOUSE
The WHBI Caring Kids Club is holding a food drive for the Glens Falls WAITE House now through Friday, March 19th. The WAITE House is a non-profit organization that provides shelter and support for homeless teens until they get back on their feet. The organization is opening another house this month to accommodate more kids and is in need of food and supplies. Thank you for supporting the Caring Kids Club's efforts to help out.

OH THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!
Mrs. D'Aniello's class has been busy over the past three months helping to paint a mural in the Computer Lab/Teacher Resource Center at the WHBI. The theme of the mural is "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" and depicts scenes from favorite children's books. Check out Mrs. D'Aniello's video about the project! (Video file size 10MB)
