• Michael Borgos

    Class of 1988

July 13, 2011 - Mike is the president of a local law firm specializing in general law and chairman of the Warren County Economic Development Council. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from Albany Law of Union University.

The importance of community involvement is ingrained in Mike from his days at Queensbury, where he recalls the district as being the hub of a close-knit community. “Dr. Irion (Superintendent of Schools in the 1980s) was actively involved with students and the community. He encouraged community participation by his staff members, and that trickled down to the students.” In addition to serving on the Warren County EDC, Mike volunteers on the NYS High School Basketball committee and was involved in the planning and creation of the new playground at Kensington Elementary School in Glens Falls.

Self-motivation is another characteristic that Mike credits to his days at Queensbury. In particular Mike recalls Chuck Connelly, his favorite science teacher and track and field coach. He said Mr. Connelly was a great communicator who created an environment of opportunity, skills and expectations in the classroom and on the field, which made him an effective teacher and coach.

Mike returned to the area after college to practice law because “this is home,” citing our region as a great place to live and raise a family because of the natural beauty, abundance of recreational opportunities and close proximity to large cities. Mike lives in Glens Falls with his wife and children.
