A message to QUFSD families

Dear Queensbury families,

A student walkout, consisting of about 40 students, occurred this morning outside the high school. Students protested simmering racial and discriminatory issues and injustices. Racism and discrimination cannot and will not be tolerated by the Queensbury Union Free School District and steps are being taken to address this with the entire school community.

Our vision for Queensbury is a place where our community respects each other’s differences. Our faculty, staff and Board of Education are committed to creating and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe, included, welcomed, and accepted, and experience a sense of belonging and academic success.

Please know that our district is focused on ensuring ALL of our students and staff feel safe, valued and welcome in our school community. We must all promote understanding, acceptance, compassion, kindness and empathy for each other.

If your student or family would like to talk to someone about these issues, please know that your building principal, school counselors, school psychologists, and social workers are here to support you at any time.

Sincerely,

Kyle L. Gannon
