Abigail York chosen for The Post-Star’s 2023 Teen Excellence Award

Queensbury High School senior Abigail York was chosen for The Post-Star’s 2023 Teen Excellence Award. Abigail was one of 22 honorees and the only Queensbury student selected. 

An awards breakfast will be held at SUNY Adirondack in the Northwest Bay conference center located in Adirondack Hall at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023.  

Abigail said she felt truly hTeen girl in student photoonored to be the recipient of this award. 

“I’ve found that although academics are important, they are not the only thing that defines you,” Abigail said. “Who you are outside of the classroom is just as important as who you are inside, and there’s immensely valuable lessons to learn in both settings.”

The Teen Excellence Awards identifies outstanding young people between the ages of 13 and 19, according to The Post-Star. These students have demonstrated personal growth, leadership and innovation as well as a commitment to community.

Through her experiences working with the community, Abigail has developed a strong sense of empathy, which has further encouraged her passion for helping others. 

“When you open yourself up to everything, life becomes a whole lot more fascinating,” Abigail said. “Seeing the effect of kindness in someone else’s life is contagious, and it reminds me to infuse a mindset of positivity within everything I do.”
