The regular meeting of the Queensbury School Board of Education was held on Feb. 10, 2020 in the High School Queensbury Room.

Call to order

President Borgos called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

Resolution dated Feb. 10, 2020

WHEREAS, the school district’s independent auditor West & Company CPA’s PC has issued an annual external audit report on the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019 and

WHEREAS, it is required pursuant to the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education that the District file a Board-approved corrective action plan within 90 days of receipt of that report, it is therefore

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves the Corrective Action Plan to be submitted to the State Education Department

Motion to accept a gift of $1,660 from the Queensbury Middle School PTA, with sincere appreciation, to be used for negative school lunch balances.

Motion to enter into a contract with the Adirondack Civic Center Coalition, Inc. pending review of the school district attorney, for use of the Civic Center for Queensbury High School Class of 2020 rehearsal and graduation ceremony on Friday, June 26, 2020.

Motion to enter into a contract with Corinth Central School District to provide health and welfare services to students who reside in the Queensbury Union Free School District and attend schools located in the Corinth Central School District, effective for the 2019-2020 school year.

Motion to approve an agreement with Educational Data Services to participate in the New York Cooperative Bid Maintenance Program for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

Motion to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with Warren County Board of Elections to provide Queensbury Schools with Optical Scan Voting Machines for the School Budget Vote and elections to be held on May 19, 2020.

Motion to approve the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Glens Falls and the Queensbury Union Free School District for rental of the City’s Ice Hockey facility for $15,000, effective 11/1/19 – 10/31/20.

Motion to approve the temporary support staff appointment of William Shaw, Driver Trainee, $13.00 per hour, effective 1/29/2020.

Motion to approve the following probationary support staff appointments:

Motion to approve the disposal of the attached list of non-public school obsolete/damaged textbooks.

Motion to approve the Queensbury School District calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.

Motion to approve the request from the high school Spanish department teachers to take a trip to the Intercultural Language School in Samara Beach, Costa Rica with students for 9 days during February 2021 break with the stipulation that the trip could be cancelled due to world events.

Motion to approve the request of the Varsity Baseball Team to travel to Myrtle Beach, SC from March 25 – 29, 2020 to experience the Cal Ripken Baseball experience with the stipulation that the trip could be cancelled due to world events.

Motion to approve the request of the high school Science department teachers to take students on a trip to Yellowstone Park for 9 days during the summer of 2021 with the stipulation that the trip could be cancelled due to world events.

Motion to approve the appointment of Cortney Swan as a tutor for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year at the rate of $35 per hour for one student and $47 for two or more.

Motion to approve the request of Dawn Neyhart to borrow an additional 30 sick days for the 2019-2020 school year.
