Queensbury Elementary School students are enjoying a newly refurnished and reorganized library. It only took two librarians three days to move thousands of books.
During the summer, maintenance staff removed the large circulation desk that engulfed the center of the library space. A new, much smaller circulation desk now sits by the door.
“This helps with checking books out and keeping things quiet so instruction time is not interrupted,” said librarian Sara Oliver.
New furniture was installed this week. The QES library now boasts a variety of comfortable and colorful seating options and tables that are perfect for group projects. Oliver and teacher aide Polly Davidson moved every publication to new shelves.
“The kids love the furniture so far,” Oliver said. “The new tables are very spacious and give the kids much more space. They are all very interested in the comfy stools that are in the center of the library, which I will use for small groups.”
