Congratulations to Queensbury’s four Odyssey of the Mind teams that competed in the 2019 Region 6 Odyssey of the Mind Competition held at Queensbury Middle School. All four teams displayed an incredible amount of creativity, originality, and teamwork and earned top spots in the competition. Queensbury students competed against 385 students on 55 teams from 36 schools. The event was coordinated by the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES Enrichment Resource Center.
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program where team members work together to solve a pre-determined long-term problem and unknown spontaneous problem. It encourages students to use their imaginations and work together to solve challenges. Each team has a volunteer adult coach to help with the entry forms and organize meetings, but the students make all of the decisions in regards to costumes, props, and the approach to solving and performing the problems. During a competition with area school districts, students present their solution in the form of a performance. This year’s event was coordinated by the Washington-Warren-Saratoga-Hamilton-Essex BOCES Enrichment Resource Center. Advisors for the Queensbury teams were Jamie Strait and Wendy Single.
