Letter from Principal Switzer regarding remote instruction

Dear High School Families,

As you are aware, the district is experiencing a growing number of COVID-19 cases. Beginning Monday, we will temporarily transition all to remote learning for the week of Oct. 5. The earliest students would return to school in-person would be Tuesday, Oct. 13, after the Columbus Day holiday. The return to school in September provided much needed interaction between students, faculty and staff, and fortunately through remote learning and access to Chromebooks, we will be able to maintain learning and collaboration through daily synchronous instruction. Attendance and participation is essential for academic success. Daily attendance in google meetings and daily wellness screening through Pinpoint is required.

Remote instruction:

  • Grades 9-12 will continue to follow their daily schedules remotely  for synchronous instruction
  • Students will log in to the appropriate Google Meet for each class following their schedule
  • We will continue to follow our Daily (A1, A2, etc.) schedule. View the day calendar for the month of October:
    • Monday will be a C day
    • Tuesday and Wednesday will be D days
    • Thursday and Friday will be A days
  • Attendance will be taken each block
    • A student will only be marked present if:
      • They arrive on time
      • Their camera is on
      • They remain in the meet for the entire block unless instructed otherwise by their teacher
  • Conduct, participation, and dress code expectations remain the same as if we were physically present in the classroom
  • Please email your teachers directly and/or call the main office should you need assistance throughout the week
  • All faculty members are available for extra help Monday – Thursday from 2-2:40 p.m. Students should email their teacher for assistance.
  • The daily bulletin will be posted each day

Remember to stay Spartan Strong throughout the week. We remain #Qnited and will continue working together to remain Spartan SAFE!

Sincerely,

Mr. Switzer
Mr. Hamm
Mr. Snide
