Dear parents and guardians,
The New York State Education Department recently released accountability designations for all public school districts as required under the state’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). ESSA replaced No Child Left Behind in 2018 and created new accountability standards for measuring student outcomes.
For the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school year, we have been named a Target District because our economically disadvantaged students did not meet the measure of interim progress set forth by the state in two areas: the four and five year graduation rate and progress on the English regents exam.
As we continually strive to improve outcomes for all students, our plan is to conduct a needs assessment to develop a targeted improvement plan and work with key stakeholders to gather feedback.
In the meantime, we will continue to work diligently to serve all of our students. If you have any questions, please contact me or Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Denise Troelstra at 518-824-5602.
I appreciate all the work you do to support our students and the school district.
Sincerely,
Kyle L. Gannon
Superintendent of Schools
