On the blustery spring morning of Tuesday, April 26, 2022, during morning announcements, WHBI buzzes with excitement for New York State Senator Dan Stec’s presentation. A longtime resident of Queensbury, Stec is at WHBI’s campus to present the American flag flown over Albany’s capitol building to the Queensbury VEX robotics teams.  Five Queensbury teams are representing both the Queensbury community and New York State at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Texas next month.

In his speech, Senator Stec commends the hard work that the VEX robotics teams have put in, saying, “It is so cool that you are representing Queensbury and the entirety of New York State. As a Queensbury Spartan parent and as a senator, it is important to me to honor you with this flag to display proudly at the championship.”

Five teams are going to the championship: the Spartanators, the Barton Bots, the Radical Robots, Team Cheese, and Team Steam-C. The VEX Robotics competitions and programs are managed by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation (REC). In April 2018, VEX Robotics Competition was named the largest robotics competition in the world by Guinness World Records.
