Power of Pink Tournament raises more than $40,000 for charity

On Saturday, Oct. 12 and Saturday Oct. 19, Queensbury volleyball hosted its 11th annual Power of Pink volleyball tournament. The tournament raises money for the Sideout Foundation, which supports people with stage four breast cancer through an innovative clinical trial.

A total of 32 JV and/or varsity teams attended the tournaments. We raised more than $40,000. A percentage of funds goes to a local cancer center as a part of the ‘Dig Pink initiative’. Our recipient is the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital.

In addition, both our JV and varsity teams won the tournaments for the first time.

“We are really appreciative of all the work done by parents, coaches and players to raise so much money,” said varsity volleyball coach Tyler Carey. “We are also very thankful for the support of the school district as the tournament is a major undertaking. We could not have done it without everyone’s help.”
