In recognition of the significance of commencement, all QHS commencement participants shall wear full academic attire – gown, cap, tassels. Academic honors-based, armed services-based, national and/or state recognition based, and culturally-based regalia to the academic attire are permissible if they have been pre-approved by school administration to be appropriately recognized in the commencement program.
Defining acceptable District approved regalia ensures that a high-quality, consistent, appropriate look is maintained at the commencement ceremony by having all commencement participants wear full District-approved academic attire and regalia as identified below:

- NYS Seal of Biliteracy; Medallion
- International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma Candidate); Stole: White satin with the IB World Schools logo
- Senior Class Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer); Stole – Gold satin with black lettering
- CTE BOCES/ECCA; Stole: Symbol of achievement
- United States Armed Services; Stole – Lettering
- Project Lead The Way (RIT); Medallion – Scholar Medal w/ blue ribbon
- Top Ten Students; Medallion – Gold Color
- NYS Honors Diploma; Medallion: Blue Ribbon
- Cultural Affiliation; Stole: Iroquois Confederacy – Purple with white embroidery
- National Recognition; Cord: Eagle Scout Distinction – Boy Scouts of America – Red, white and blue cord with a medallion attached
