Ten Queensbury High School students performed in the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra’s “Side by Side” concert March 19. These students participated in rehearsals with GFSO music director Charles Peltz alongside students from other districts including Guilderland, Saratoga Springs, Shenendehowa, Glens Falls and Hudson Falls.
Each student musician was paired with a professional from the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra. The day culminated with a performance for the public at Glens Falls High School.
The Queensbury students — Clara Avery, Susan Boczar, Demetria Hendry, Lindsey Pepe, Julia Ross, Sara Ross, Caitlin Scott, Melda Top, Johanna Troelstra and Jay Zhao — were selected for their high level of musicianship and through teacher recommendation.
“I’m very proud of their work ethic, professionalism and overall musicianship,” said Gregory Verheyn, who chairs the Queensbury UFSD Music Department. “These kids will bring back their experience and perspective to our rehearsals at QHS, and all students will benefit!”
