Queensbury Union Free School District is excited to announce that it will offer two additional sections of full-day Universal Prekindergarten for the 2023-24 school year. The district will now offer four sections of UPK and will be able to accommodate 72 children.
“The governor’s budget proposal allows for Queensbury to be able to add two more sections of prekindergarten,” said Superintendent Kyle Gannon. “This is an exciting opportunity for our district to embark on and to have our students with us earlier.”
The four new prekindergarten classes will be housed in the Queensbury Elementary School and staffed by certified teachers.
Seats are currently available through a random lottery, which will be drawn on March 1, 2023. The lottery is open on the district’s website at www.queensburyschool.org.
The lottery is available for children turning age 4 on or before Dec. 1, 2023. In order to enter the lottery, students must be of prekindergarten age and not eligible for kindergarten.
The lottery will close at 5 p.m. on Feb. 28, 2023. Parents will be notified via email by March 3, 2023 of acceptance to the program or placement on the waitlist.
Parents will be made aware of the registration and screening processes once their child’s name has been drawn through the lottery.
