Queensbury voters pass 2023-24 school budget

Voters in Queensbury Union Free School District passed a $75,295,899 budget proposal for the 2023-24 school year on Tuesday, May 16, by a vote of 621 to 228. Under the approved budget, a 2% tax increase will maintain the K-12 education programs for Queensbury students next year and add four sections of universal prekindergarten in the fall. 

“I’m thankful for the support of our community. I appreciate the community’s value in education, and I could not be more proud of the Board of Education’s commitment to excellence,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon. “We are excited to start our universal prekindergarten program next year.”

Voters also elected the following candidates to fill two five-year seats on the Queensbury Board of Education:

Beecher Baker – 694 votes

      • Term through June 30, 2028

Dr. Michael Shea – 726 votes

      • Term through June 30, 2028
