Reopening updates and survey for families

Dear parents/guardians,

As we make our way toward the end of the month, I wanted to provide you with updates as we work toward submitting our reopening plans to the state by July 31.

I would first like to thank you for providing the district with the important information we requested regarding bus ridership. It was really helpful to hear from you as we continue to navigate what transportation will look like with reduced ridership. Once transportation plans are finalized, that information will be included in our comprehensive reopening plan.

Reopening survey

We have developed a reopening survey that will focus on your comfortability on returning to school. Please fill out the survey for each child you have in the district. Please complete the survey by 8 a.m. on Monday, July 27.

We will be compiling the survey results into frequently asked questions (FAQs) and address those questions at an upcoming virtual panel discussion on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. The discussion will be livestreamed, with more information and a link to be sent out later next week. Members of our reopening planning committee and a representative of Warren County Public Health will be present at the virtual forum.

Reopening plan

On Monday, July 27, we will present an overview of our reopening plan to the board at its workshop. Individuals will be able to stream the board workshop on our Q-Tube channel. The video to watch the meeting will appear at approximately 7 p.m. on July 27. You will need to refresh the page if you do not see the video when arriving on the channel.

The plan will be posted on our website later that week. We invite you to view the document and share any questions, comments and concerns via a comment section on the web page.

New district website

Be on the lookout, the next time you visit, it might look a bit different! We have a new website:

Reopening web page

An alert bar is at the top of each page on the new website with a link to information about the district’s reopening plans. The reopening page will be updated frequently as information becomes available.

Please remember that reopening is dependent on a number of factors. Governor Cuomo will use the following criteria to make a decision the first week of August:

  • Open: Schools can open in a region in phase 4 where there is an infection rate at or below 5% (14-day average)
  • Close: Schools will close if the regional infection rate rises above 9% (7-day average)

Thank you for your continued partnership. I am so proud to be a Spartan!
