Voters Pass Budget for 2016-17 School Year

Queensbury residents passed a $59,196,134 school budget proposal for the 2016-17 school year by a vote of 784 in favor to 225 opposed on Tuesday, May 17. The school budget will maintain current programs and services for students as well as the current staffing level.
“Queensbury is such a supportive community. It's a community that places a high priority on educating its youth,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Douglas W. Huntley said of the outcome. 
Residents also passed a $944,405 proposition for the purchase of six 72-passenger school buses and two 42-passenger school buses by a vote of 794 in favor to 213 opposed.
Voters re-elected incumbent Kathleen Holser to the Queensbury Board of Education with 858 votes. She will serve a full, five-year term.
