QHS student named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist

Queensbury High School is proud to announce that Erik L. Swanson, a senior, has been selected among the 16,000 semifinalists of the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program, and has been determined as meeting all of the requirements to advance to “finalist” standing in the competition.

Results obtained on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Teast (PSAT), in combination with a multitude of other academic factors, are considered in the National Merit qualifying process. All finalists will be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2019. The selection of some 7,500 Merit Scholarship Winners from the finalist group is now underway by the National Merit Corporation, which will result in the selection of the scholarship winners who will be named later on in the spring.

Erik is the second son of Jon and Diane Swanson. The district is exceptionally proud of Erik’s vast accomplishments as a student of the Queensbury Union Free School District and wish him the best in all of his future endeavors, which includes the National Merit competition and beyond.
