The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education plans to appoint Tom Martin to the position of interim principal at Queensbury Middle School.
Martin will serve as interim principal through June 2023 as the district conducts a search for a new middle school principal.
Martin most recently worked in Schroon Lake as the interim director of Special Education and previously served as interim CSE chairperson at South Colonie. He is a retired Schuylerville High School principal.
Martin taught social studies at Queensbury Middle School from 1976-1988. He also coached football, basketball and baseball at Queensbury UFSD.
“I’m excited to be coming back to Queensbury Middle School,” Martin said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the kids.”
Martin received his bachelor’s from St. Lawrence University in 1976 and his master’s in educational administration from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1987. He has permanent certification as a school district administrator in New York state as well as a permanent certification in secondary social studies.
“We’re happy to have Mr. Martin and his plethora of experience join our staff at the middle school,” said Superintendent Kyle Gannon. “We are eager for him to acclimate to our faculty, staff and students.”
Martin will start March 8.
