Dear Queensbury community,
We would like to share the following information with you.
Interim Updated Guidance
On Wednesday, Jan. 5, the New York State Department of Health released interim updated isolation and quarantine guidance, which follows the CDC recommendations for the updated and shortened five-day isolation and quarantine period for the general population.
-
The individuals who are moderately-severely immunocompromised should continue to follow standard (i.e., not shortened) Isolation Guidance.
Warren County Public Health (WCPH) has adopted the guidance and would like to reiterate that wearing masks is important given the community’s surge in cases and the fact the omicron variant is present in our community.
Positive Test Results
-
Positive and symptomatic:
-
Isolate for five (5) days, where day zero (0) is the day of first symptoms; or
-
After the five days and symptoms are resolving (fever-free for 72 hours, no or only slight dry cough, no runny nose), isolation ends and the individual should wear a well-fitting mask while around others for an additional five days.
-
Upon returning to school, when eating or drinking, individuals should be six feet apart from others for the remaining required time period
-
-
If a positive individual is symptomatic beyond the five-day quarantine, they should stay home from school until their symptoms are resolving (fever-free for 72 hours, no or only slight dry cough, no runny nose).
-

Quarantine Recommendations
The New York State Department of Health makes the following quarantine recommendations:
-
If a person who had contact with someone with COVID-19 is not fully vaccinated, or is fully vaccinated and eligible for a booster but not yet boosted, requirements include quarantine for five (5) days and wearing of a well-fitting mask while around others for an additional five days.
-
If a person who has contact with someone with COVID-19 is fully vaccinated and boosted (with the booster at least two weeks before the first date of exposure) or not yet eligible for a booster, no quarantine is required but these individuals should wear a well-fitting mask while around others for 10 days after the last date of exposure.
Booster Shots
If you have not already received a booster shot, the CDC now recommends booster shots for those aged 12 and older. The Aviation Mall offers immunizations on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
