Hello QMS families,
Opening Day is fast approaching, and we are well in stride with our preparations for Sept. 8.
We hope that those of you who attended the QMS Forum this past Wednesday found value in our program. It is still available here for viewing. Additionally, a FAQ document based on the forum and the questions you asked will be uploaded to the QMS website. Please check there on Monday afternoon.
Here are a few photos of some of the new designs and additions here at QMS:
We will be creating virtual tours (videos) of our buildings for families to watch. Once finished, we will share them via School Messenger and post on our website.
These videos will replace our “Open Doors” program, “Start at the Middle”, and “New Student Orientation”.
Reminder to our 6th grade 100% remote learner families – on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 there will be times available for you to come and pick up Chromebooks and supplies from school that will be needed.
Additionally, any Chromebook repairs that might be needed for 7th or 8th graders, you may come in during this time to swap them out so you will be well equipped for hybrid learning. In person, 6th graders will get their Chromebooks on Opening Day when they report directly to their block 1 class.
100% virtual learners in grades 7 and 8 – we will coordinate a time when you can collect any school issued items for instructional use at home (ie textbooks, classroom documents, art supplies, etc.)
If your child will need to be given medications during the school day, our nurse (Mrs. Roberts) will be available in front of QMS on Aug. 31 from 8-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m. to collect them for storage here at QMS. If you cannot make this time, please contact Mrs. Roberts (firstname.lastname@example.org or 518-824-3603) to make other arrangements.
Schedules will be available on SchoolTool once finalized.
Here are our supply lists. They are also posted on our website. If you have any questions or problems with securing these items, please reach out to us so we can assist.
Lastly, we have established our student drop off times. We will not be able to have students enter the building prior to 7:50 a.m. We know this is a change, but a much needed approach to ensuring the safety and proper supervision of our students as we begin the school day. We appreciate your attention and adherence to this plan.
Parent pickup will remain the same (2:48 pm), but please be flexible as we orchestrate our dismissal procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. We will be dismissing all students in an orderly fashion to avoid hallway congestion. This involves coordinated efforts from administration and teachers and may result in additional wait time in our parking lot while we establish these routines.
Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days and weeks!
