The third Parent Workshop this year will focus on the basics of avoidance, obsessions, perfectionism, and other expressions of anxiety.
Dr. Jennifer Bashant, an educational consultant, motivational speaker and therapist, will host a virtual Parents as Partners webinar to discuss “Avoidance, Obsessions, Perfectionism and Other Expressions of Anxiety,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9.
Anxiety can be hard to recognize because it presents in so many different ways, through anger or behavioral challenges, to avoidance, to perfectionism. This workshop will aid parents in identifying it by going over what to look for and how to recognize the different types of anxiety, as well as the six lies that anxiety tells. Parents will leave with tips and strategies to help their child cope with and overcome anxiety.
“When our children are anxious, they need us more than ever. Learn how to work with your child and the school community to push through the barriers of anxiety,” said Michael Brannigan, the director of Social and Emotional Learning and School Development at Queensbury Union Free School District.
