Lisa Higley accepting the United Way awardFor several years, William H. Barton Intermediate School fifth grade teacher Lisa Higley has donated much of her free time to serving the Tri-County United Way; in June she received a prestigious public recognition for her work and dedication to the organization. Higley was honored with the Thomas L. Hoy award, which recognizes the Tri-County United Way’s most distinguished volunteer of the year. Higley has served four years on the Tri-County United Way’s Allocation board and has been instrumental in serving as Queensbury’s school district coordinator, as well as onboarding the Warrensburg School District.

“Queensbury is a proud supporter of the Tri-County United Way and Lisa is an excellent example of how our teachers go above and beyond in the community,” said Superintendent of Schools Douglas W. Huntley. “I commend her for her many years of volunteerism to the organization.”
