The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education intends to appoint Pamela Bordas to the position of associate director of Student Support Services.

Bordas spent nine years as the regional associate for Special Education Quality Assurance for the New York State Education Department. During her long career, she has also served as a speech-language pathologist and held other positions in Hudson Falls, Greenwich, Cambridge, Queensbury, Gloversville and Granville schools, at Glens Falls Hospital, the Capital Area Speech Center in Albany and in private practice.

In her new position, Bordas will provide educational leadership and oversight of the district’s Committee on Special Education and will work closely with students, families, teachers and staff to ensure high-quality support services are provided consistently and effectively.

Bordas said she is excited to be taking on this administrative role in the Queensbury Union Free School District.

“I’m eager to work with the students, families and staff members throughout campus,” Bordas said. “It’s important to ensure that our students and families are engaged and that we are serving our special needs population using inclusive practices and meeting the needs of all our students.”

Bordas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education of speech and hearing handicapped from Elmira College and a master’s in speech-language pathology from Ithaca College. She earned her Certificates of Advanced Study from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Bordas will work collaboratively with Robyn Scotland, the director of Student Support Services.

“We are thrilled to have Pam join us in the associate director position,” Scotland said. “She brings many strengths with her various professional experiences in the area of special education and related services.”

Bordas, who lives in Ballston Spa, will start July 1.
