Queensbury fifth grader Kiara Golwala’s artwork was recently displayed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., part of the 7th U.S. Arts Olympiad through the International Child Art Foundation.
Kiara, 10, received a certificate of Exceptional Artistic Accomplishment in July in Washington, D.C., where she met other artists from different parts of the world.
ICAF’s Arts Olympiad is the largest in-school and after-school arts program of its kind. Established more than 25 years ago, the Arts Olympiad cultivates creativity for young students. Young artists represent their U.S. school districts and international countries at the World Children’s Festival held every four years on the National Mall.
Kiara submitted a piece titled “Sking to a dream” and wrote “I live in the mountains of Adirondacks. It is a great place to ski and many people dream to ski in Adirondacks. I enjoy sking with my friends in winter.”
Kiara has been attending workshops at The Hyde Collection this summer to improve her skills. She also participated in the global art exchange program with the World Awareness Children’s Museum in Glens Falls, where her art is being displayed through October and will be mailed to Kenya for display for its Independence Day.
