For the second year in a row, Queensbury student Emery Leo has donated care kits for students across campus.

“I want to give back to people,” Emery said, “and I think this is important because not all kids have what I have.”

The fifth grader raised $500 by collecting and returning 10,000 bottles and cans, which she had collected from friends, family, neighbors and teammates. Emery and her friend Emelia Brown delivered the care kits to each school on Oct. 14.

Each girl bag contained a hairbrush, hair ties, toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, a bar of soap, deodorant, body lotion, hand sanitizer, Chapstick, tissues and a candy treat. Each boy bag contained a pack of body wipes, a bar of soap, deodorant, a toothbrush and toothpaste, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, Chapstick, tissues and candies.

Emery said everyone has a right to go to school and feel confident.
