Two Queensbury UFSD orchestras earned high honors at the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival held at Columbia High School on April 29-30. The high school String Orchestra received a Gold rating at NYSSMA Level 4 and the high school Chamber Orchestra earned a Gold at the most challenging NYSSMA Level 6. These awards recognize an exceptional standard of musical performance and preparation.

The NYSSMA adjudicators praised both groups for their musical sensitivity, precision, passion and expressive energy in performing challenging, high-level music. Both groups are conducted by Gregory Verheyn.

“These students set clear goals both individually and as a group, maintained high musical standards and worked together to create disciplined, professional-level performances,” Verheyn said. “I am deeply appreciative of the continued support from the administration, colleagues as well as the students’ families.”
