The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education plans to appoint Richard Keys to the position of interim assistant principal at Queensbury Elementary School.

Keys will serve as interim principal through June 2027 as the district conducts a search for a new assistant principal.

Keys recently retired from Queensbury Union Free School District, where he worked for 20 years as middle school assistant principal, principal and athletic director.

“It will be a seamless transition for Mr. Keys to be able to be the elementary assistant principal. He understands our community and loves being with our students, faculty and staff,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon. “I have no doubt, the students will smile every time they see Mr. Keys in the morning.”

Keys will start Aug. 18.

“I’m looking forward to being back on campus in this new role as assistant principal,” Keys said. “I look forward to greeting the families each morning out behind QES, being in the cafeteria, being present in the hallways and in the classrooms each day.”
