The Northeast Construction Trades Workforce Coalition rolled into Queensbury Elementary School on Wednesday, April 1, and turned second graders into mini builders for the day. With hammers in hand and plenty of excitement, each student got to build their very own pine toolbox using real nails and screws. Even better — they took their creations home, along with a measuring tape and a tool apron to keep the building spirit going.
Along the way, the kids sharpened their problem-solving skills, practiced following directions, and discovered how what they learn in the classroom can come to life in real-world careers.
“It was a fun and educational experience that gave students a chance to explore these career paths and try something new,” said Jon Dawes, Queensbury’s coordinator of capital projects.
