The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education is pleased to announce that Margaret Lawrence will assume the position of assistant principal at Queensbury High School.
Lawrence has been the assistant principal at the William H. Barton Intermediate School since April 2024. She is also the girls varsity ice hockey assistant coach for the Adirondack United team.
“I’m excited to have Margaret join our high school team,” said QHS Principal Andrew Snide. “I’m looking forward to the knowledge that Margaret can bring to the position based on her experience at WHBI. She will fit in great at the high school.”
Lawrence started her career in 2011 teaching health and physical education at Rutland High School. She has taught physical education and health at Hudson Falls Middle School and at Bolton Central School, where she also served as athletic director.
Lawrence has a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Science degree in adapted physical education from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. She holds certificates of advanced study in education leadership from both SUNY Plattsburgh and Castleton University.
In this new role, Lawrence will assist with the support and promotion of high standards and expectations for all students and staff, support and maintain an emotionally healthy and physically safe environment for all, and be responsible for student management. She will collaborate with the QHS principal and district administration on instructional best practices, strategies, and professional development needs.
“I’m excited to take on this new opportunity, and I look forward to working with the students, staff and families that make up the Queensbury High School community,” Lawrence said.
Lawrence, who lives in Queensbury with her husband, Royce, and their three children Paige, Patrick and Parker, will start Sept. 1.
