Queensbury special education teacher Amanda Christman cut open several boxes of items in her classroom at the William H. Barton Intermediate School. She unboxed folders, fidget toys, noise canceling headphones, washable markers, water bottles, construction paper, deodorant, safety scissors, sensory mats, pop-its, stress balls, stickers and more.
“I can’t tell you how many kids need these,” said Christman holding up a fidget toy.
Christman won a classroom giveaway from The Car Shoppe Malta. Christman’s classroom will benefit from deliveries like this for the entire school year.
This is the first year the business has adopted a classroom, said Kiera Zmitrovitch from The Car Shoppe Malta who delivered the boxes to Christman’s classroom this week. The Car Shoppe Malta conveniently set up an Amazon wish list for Christman to stock her classroom.
“I am simply shocked at the thoughtfulness of a local business and all those who voted for me online!” said Christman, who was nominated by a parent of a student she taught two years ago.
