Tay Fisher spins a basketball on his head while shocked students watch.

Students at the William H. Barton Intermediate School got some lessons in handling basketballs and handling life on Thursday, March 19 when former Harlem Globetrotter and motivational speaker Tay “Fire” Fisher visited the school.

Fisher is a former professional basketball player and standout guard at Siena College, where he became one of the program’s top scorers and helped lead the team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.

After college, Fisher played professionally in the U.S. and overseas and gained additional recognition performing with the Harlem Globetrotters. He is now a dynamic youth motivational speaker dedicated to inspiring students and young athletes to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and pursue excellence both on and off the court.

Fisher shared with the students his program of CHEER:

C: cooperation
H: healthy minds and body
E: effort
E: enthusiasm
R: responsibility
