For the 12th year in a row, Queensbury Union Free School District has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.

Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation was awarded to 935 school districts across the country that demonstrate outstanding achievement to provide music access and education to all students.

The award program recognizes and celebrates efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment to and access to music education.

To apply for the Best Communities designation, Queensbury UFSD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.

Music Department chairperson Gregory Verheyn thanked his fellow music educators for their work. He also thanked Queensbury’s district-level and building administrators for ensuring the Music Department has the resources and support to provide an incredible music education at Queensbury UFSD.

“Spending time in school districts across the state only deepens my appreciation for the Queensbury community and the incredible work our Music Department has done for so many years,” Verheyn said.
