Queensbury High School senior Kady Duffy will play NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse next year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The future Tar Heel signed her ceremonial letter of intent during a short ceremony at Queensbury High School on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
“Today represents the culmination of hard work, commitment and dedication not only to their sport, but also to their teammates and themselves,” said Richard Keys, the director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics at Queensbury Union Free School District. “Kady has demonstrated sacrifice, discipline, as required to compete at this elite level. She’s trained, traveled, studied, volunteered and managed her time with purpose while representing Queensbury with pride.”
The UNC Tar Heels women’s lacrosse program is one of the most respected and successful in the nation, Keys said. The program won national championships in 2013, 2016, 2022 and 2025.
“As a three-sport athlete, Kady’s been a key contributor — particularly with our Queensbury girls lacrosse program,” Keys said, “and has demonstrated remarkable athleticism, competitive spirit and dedication throughout her high school career. Her drive to improve combined with her commitment to her teammates has made her a stand-out Spartan.”
Kady said committing to UNC is a “dream come true,” and she thanked her coaches, family and teammates for their support.
“I chose Carolina because of their awesome coaching staff and positive team culture,” Kady said.
Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon recalled watching Kady play lacrosse when she was just an eighth grader.
“I knew we had somebody special at that point,” Gannon said. “The amount of times I’ve seen her on the ground, getting knocked down, getting hit and popping right back up again. She truly is the epitome of hard work. To watch her on a lacrosse field is something special.”
