Josh Jenkin, Johnny Luthringer and Alden Guay topped all relay trios on Feb. 24, and the Queensbury varsity boys Nordic ski team captured the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship for the third consecutive year.

With their time of 27:24.0, Jenkin, Luthringer and Guay finished four seconds ahead of the second-place triumvirate from Honeoye Falls-Lima (complete relay results).

The Spartans secured the boys program's seventh Nordic state title with a score of 19, which was 16 better than the runner-up, Saranac Lake (team scores).

Jacob Perkins, Johnny Eppedico-Cirillo and North Warren's Sawyer Gadjo placed third in 27:40.9, while Chris DiPlacido plus Lake George's Jason Ludlow and Simon Ludlow seized seventh (28:55.9) to help Section 2 win with a score of 78.

Ruby Janssen, Mallory Cosh and Finley Purvis took eighth (35:53.6) in their relay race as the Spartan girls finished fourth. Harper Purvis teamed up with Anna Leo and Brynn Thomarie of Mayfield/Northville for the 10th spot (36:54.9).

One day earlier, Queensbury senior Alden Guay was the individual winner in the 7.5-kilometer race and the Queensbury varsity boys Nordic ski team is currently leading the team standings after day one of the NYSPHSAA Nordic Ski Championships. Guay’s time of 20:49.1 was 15.71 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. He joins David Miller (1977), Aaron Newell (2011) and Ben Jenkin (twice: 2023 and 2024) as the lone Spartan boys to be crowned Nordic state champion.

Josh Jenkin and Johnny Eppedico-Cirillo placed eighth (21:28.0) and 10th (21:58.5), respectively. Johnny Luthringer (13th, 22:17.3), Colin Russell (29th, 23:49.2) and Chris DiPlacido (30th, 23:53.0) also excelled for the Spartans (individual results).

Ruby Janssen captured fifth (24:28.0) for the highest QHS girls placement since Bailey Gengel seized fourth in 2019. Finley Purvis (24th, 27:15.8), Harper Purvis (25th, 27:56.0) and Mallory Cosh (28th, 28:24.7) all contributed impressive performances.
