For the 13th year in a row, Queensbury Union Free School District has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.
Now in its 27th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation was awarded to more than 1,000 school districts and schools across the country that demonstrate outstanding achievement to provide music access and education to all students.
The award program recognizes and celebrates efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment to and access to music education.
“Music education plays a vital role in cultivating vibrant, connected communities,” said John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO. “The 2026 Best Communities for Music Education recipients exemplify how meaningful access to music fosters creativity, collaboration and lifelong learning. We are proud to recognize their leadership and unwavering dedication to ensuring every student has the opportunity to engage in music.”
To apply for the Best Communities designation, Queensbury UFSD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.
“Thank you to our committed music teachers for the high level instruction and passion they share with our students every day,” said K-12 Music Department chairperson Gregory Verheyn. “Thank you to both building- and district-level administration for their continued support of our program through their commitment to providing the resources and programming that allow our students to receive the best possible music education.”
