The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education intends to appoint Emily Benedetto to the position of assistant principal of the William H. Barton Intermediate School.
Benedetto is currently a third grade teacher at Queensbury Elementary School, where she has taught since November 2021. Before that, she was a teacher at Jackson Heights Elementary School in Glens Falls. She is currently the grade level leader for third grade ELA at QES.
Benedetto has a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental studies and a Master of Science in childhood education, both from SUNY Potsdam. She holds a certificate of advanced study in school building leadership from SUNY Plattsburgh.
Benedetto said she is thrilled to accept the assistant principal position.
“I am excited to be a key contributor at a school that values high expectations for all students, fosters a safe and supportive learning environment, and prioritizes collaboration with staff, students, families and community members,” Benedetto said.
In this new role, Benedetto will assist in maintaining an emotionally healthy and safe environment for all students and staff, collaborate with building leadership on instructional best practices, strategies and professional development needs, and will supervise and evaluate professional, paraprofessional and support personnel.
Principal Amanda Denno said she is excited for Benedetto to join the WHBI team.
“With her strong background in upper elementary education, she brings both expertise and a warm, approachable presence that will make her a friendly and familiar face for our students, staff and families,” Denno said.
Benedetto lives in Queensbury with her husband, Tom, and their daughter, Jane. She will assume the WHBI assistant principal role beginning July 1.
“I have had the good fortune of watching Mrs. Benedetto grow from the teaching capacity into the administrative role,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon, “and I could not be more proud to have her on our team.”
