Two Queensbury orchestras earned top honors at the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival held at Queensbury High School on April 24, 2025.
The Queensbury Middle School Chamber Orchestra received a Gold with Distinction (the highest possible rating) at NYSSMA Level 3, and the Queensbury High School Chamber Orchestra earned a Gold at the most challenging NYSSMA Level 6. These awards recognize an exceptional standard of musical performance and preparation.
The adjudicators praised both groups for their musical sensitivity, precision, passion and energy of the high-level and professional repertoire. Both groups are conducted by QHS orchestra teacher Gregory Verheyn.
“I am incredibly proud of the dedication, hard work and passion that these students bring to these groups,” Verheyn said. “I am grateful for the support of the administrators, teachers and the students’ families.”
