Sixteen outstanding Queensbury student-musicians performed at the NYSSMA Zone 7 Area All-State Festival on Nov. 21 and 22. They sang and played with more than 300 of the capital region’s best students from 43 school districts at Proctor’s Theatre in Schenectady. 

NYSSMA Zone 7 Area encompasses all of Albany, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties. 

The students, chosen through an application and NYSSMA solo audition process, are from the QHS orchestra, band and choral programs under the direction of Gregory Verheyn, James Cirillo and Matthew Gaulin, respectively. 

“We are incredibly proud of the effort, passion and musicianship these exceptional student-musicians displayed at the Area All-State Festival at Proctors Theater,” said Queensbury Music Department Chairperson Gregory Verheyn. 

Students who participated in the Symphony Orchestra include: Jonathan Eppedico-Cirillo, Abigail Goertzen, Steven Johnson, Liam Kerr, Max Levack, Julia Ross, Mia Verheyn and Julianna Zapete. 

Students who participated in the Symphonic Band include: Jedd Acquah, Nathan Bogucki, Kevin Kerst, Faith Lawani, Eleanor Stevens and Chloe Zhao

 

Students who participated in the Mixed Chorus include: Dannica LaPointe and Carter Stanclift.
